Announcement: Cancellation of Halloween Fair and Haunted House 2024


It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of both the Halloween Fair and the Haunted House experience at Old Parramatta Gaol for 2024. Due to a Development Application (DA) being rejected and the abrupt cancellation of all events and activities at Old Parramatta Gaol, we are unable to proceed with this year’s plans.

We deeply apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience this may cause. We understand how much excitement these events bring, and we share in your pain over this unfortunate turn of events.

We truly appreciate your support and hope to come back bigger and stronger next year, ready to deliver an unforgettable Halloween experience once again.

We are so excited to announce our Halloween Fair, being held at
​Old Parramatta Gaol on
2 November 2024

Our journey began in 2013 and has been one of continuous growth and transformation. It all started at Parramatta Town Hall with the launch of the Oz Paranormal and Spiritual Expo. In 2014, we took a bold step forward by relocating to the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and rebranding to elevate our identity.


In 2019, we reached a significant milestone by hosting our inaugural Expo at the historic Parramatta Gaol. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced us to cancel our plans in both 2020 and 2021, we persevered.


In 2022, we made a triumphant return, welcoming numerous enthusiastic participants to the atmospheric surroundings of the gaol. Attendees enjoyed a day filled with unique offerings and entertaining activities.

Last year, over 2,000 people passed through the large iron gates.

This year, we are planning something even better.

As Halloween gains popularity in Australia, with many adopting the American tradition of scares and thrills, we are excited to announce a Halloween Fair!


This year's major attraction will be a huge Haunted House, which will be open in the days leading up to the fair.

On Saturday, 2 November, we will welcome visitors and vendors from far and wide to a market-style event in the large oval of the Old Parramatta Gaol.

You can peruse the stalls, enter either one or both of the Haunted Houses, and enjoy a day of spookiness.

ABOUT OLD PARRAMATTA GAOL

Upon its closure in 2011, Old Parramatta Gaol earned the distinction of being the longest-serving prison in Australia's history. This sprawling complex boasts six wings, along with various ancillary structures, making it an imposing site. Its transformation into the venue for the Oz Para Expo in both 2019 and 2022 proved to be an overwhelming triumph.

Constructed in 1837, this gaol is steeped in rich historical significance and an unmistakable aura – and it is no secret that it harbors stories of lingering spirits and ghosts.

At this year’s Halloween Fair at Old Parramatta Gaol, we are excited to present two haunted house attractions "FEAR THERAPY" designed to thrill and chill visitors of all ages.

Our Super Scary Haunted House is not for the faint-hearted. This spine-tingling experience will take you through the darkest corners of the gaol, where eerie sounds, haunting visuals, and live actors will bring your worst nightmares to life. Expect heart-pounding moments and terrifying surprises around every corner, making it a must-visit for thrill-seekers and horror enthusiasts.

Bringing a wealth of experience as a Business Analyst within the NSW Government, and with a strong background in event management and project coordination, Peet is well-equipped to oversee the execution of our Expo. In this role, Peet's responsibilities include orchestrating the participation of stallholders and sponsors, as well as ensuring the overall smooth operation of the event.

Peet is our indispensable point person throughout the event's preparation, managing various tasks such as social media coordination, maintaining mailing lists, fostering relationships with workshop presenters, overseeing venue logistics, and attending to a myriad of other essential event details. When it comes to our Expo, Peet is the go-to individual you can rely on.

Furthermore, Peet collaborates closely with a dedicated team of volunteers from APPI, a group of remarkable individuals who generously volunteer their time and expertise to deliver the most exceptional Paranormal Expo experience in Australia.
